Outreach Ministry is once again extending an invitation to all the families of our St. James congregation,  Preschool, Sunday School, and Youth Group, to join us in the “shoebox ministry” of Samaritan’s Purse. By filling a shoebox with items for a child in need, we can help spread the love and good news of Jesus Christ.

Informational brochures will be available each week at all services beginning October 9th.

Cardboard shoeboxes will be available in the narthex for your use, or you may also use your own shoebox, or a plastic shoebox. By choosing the age and gender of your child and following the instructions on the brochure, you will become part of this wonderful ministry.

Please drop off filled shoebox when the church is open (before or after services) and leave in the Narthex or Parish Hall by 11/6/16. That will be the final date for collecting at St. James.  If you are able to donate $7 to cover the cost of shipping, please write a check to Samaritan’s Purse, and place it inside the box.

Any questions?  Please call Pat Gobler at 631-928-2979 or Carol Margraf at 631-474-3343

OUTREACH MINISTRY is again collecting non-perishable items (listed in the DISPLAYS) throughout OCTOBER & NOVEMBER.  These items will be given to our SMITHTOWN EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY.  Please put all donations in the pantry basket or large marked bins in the Narthex and Parish Hall before or after services when the CHURCH is open.

If someone you know is in need of a TURKEY and FIXINGS please refer them to the PANTRY.  It is important that they register for a TURKEY AND FIXINGS between NOVEMBER 7 and NOVEMBER 14.  That is, you must be a registered food recipient or be referred by OUR CHURCH in order to receive the fixings.  Please call or visit the PANTRY TO REGISTER or speak to Gail Sylvester (631-585-4025) or Judy Hans (631-862-6591).

Outreach Ministry will also collect MONETARY DONATIONS towards fresh vegetables and other needed PANTRY SUPPLIES. SOME OF THE DONATED MONEY WILL ALSO GO TO CHRISTMAS OUTREACH FAMILIES.  Please use envelopes provided in the NARTHEX and PARISH HALL DISPLAYS. Make checks out to ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH.  Write OUTREACH MINISTRY on the notation line.
